The Hotel Tivoli is a luxury hotel in the center of the Portuguese capital, Lisbon .

history

The hotel opened in 1933 on Avenida da Liberdade . In 1942, the owner of the hotel purchased the adjacent land for an extension, which was realized between 1952 and 1958 by the architect Porfírio Pardal Monteiro . In 1961 further renovations followed by António Pardal Monteiro, nephew of Porfírio Pardal Monteiro, and Anselmo Fernandez . Finally, in a third construction phase under Artur Bentes, a third hotel wing was built on the northwest side of the complex.

The actress Beatriz Costa lived in the hotel for the last thirty years of her life and died there in April 1996.
