The Diário de Notícias building is the headquarters of the Diário de Notícias daily newspaper in the Portuguese capital, Lisbon .
history
The building was commissioned from 1936 by the newspaper publisher Empresa Nacional de Publicidade . The Portuguese architect Porfírio Pardal Monteiro created a six-story building near the northern end of the avenue Avenida da Liberdade , which is divided by several inner courtyards. The stone-clad facade is determined on the north-western side by a tower towering over the building. The building was inaugurated in 1940. In the same year, Pardal Monteiro was awarded the Prémio Valmor for his work .
The building is also the headquarters of the media holding Controlinveste . It has been classified as a cultural monument since 1986.
