Cinema São Jorge

The Cinema São Jorge is a premiere cinema in the center of the Portuguese capital Lisbon .

history

The cinema was built from 1947 on the southwest side of the avenue Avenida da Liberdade on the site of the Palacete da Baronesa de Samora Correia . The architect was Fernando Silva , who was awarded the Prémio Municipal de Arquitectura for this in 1950 .

The cinema has three halls with a total of more than 1000 seats. It is the venue for several film festivals.

Since 1989 the application for classification as Imóvel de Interest Público (IIP) has been running .
