As pigeons Dorfer Lake ( Lower Sorbian Dubojski jazor ) a planned artificial lake has been in the community Schenkendöbern in Spree-Neisse district in Brandenburg referred.

Naming

The name "Taubendorfer See" is derived from the place name Taubendorf (Lower Sorbian: Dubojce).

planning

The planned Taubendorfer See was to be created south of the town of Guben by flooding the outflow of the Jänschwalde Kippe in the open- cast brown coal mine of the same name . Located near the border with Poland , it would have been the northernmost and largest lake in the Lusatian Lakeland .

If the plans for the Jänschwalde-Nord opencast mine and plans for new opencast mines on the Polish side had been implemented, Taubendorf would have become a peninsula , surrounded by three remaining open-cast lakes. There are no coal deposits under Taubendorf itself , so the village was not intended to be devastated .

After the sale of the open- cast lignite mine from Vattenfall Europe to LEAG and the subsequent planning stop for the planned extension of Jänschwalde-Nord, the plans for the lake, which had previously been criticized as oversized, were also revised. Accordingly, instead of one large lake, which would have significantly shifted the watershed between the Spree and Lausitzer Neisse , three smaller lakes are to be created in the recultivated area, each in the vicinity of the villages of Heinersbrück , Taubendorf and Jänschwalde -Ost.
