L'Hôtel (German: "The Hotel") is a high-end designer hotel in Paris , the capital of France . It used to be called the Hotel d'Alsace . The hotel became known as the last address of Oscar Wilde , who died there. Later it became the permanent residence of Mistinguett , who furnished her room, which has remained almost unchanged to this day, to suit her own taste. The house's popularity grew through stays by Mata Hari , the actors Katharine Hepburn and Johnny Depp, as well as the Argentinian author Jorge Luis Borges .

The hotel is located at 13 rue des Beaux-Arts in the Saint-Germain-des-Prés district in the 6th arrondissement . The house was a popular place to stay for Parisian society in the 1960s.

Today's hotel, designed by the designer Jacques Garcia , has 20 individually furnished rooms, some of which are still the same as in the days of famous guests such as Mistinguett or Mata Hari. One room is dedicated to Oscar Wilde, the room where he died no longer exists. The house is a member of the small hotel association A Curious Group of Hotels (ACGH). The hotel's Le Restaurant was awarded a Michelin star in 2011. In 2008, the hotel was named Best Urban Hotel in World by the American fashion and lifestyle magazine Harper's Bazaar .
