Howard Buten
Howard Buten (* 1950 in Detroit ) is an American psychiatrist and clown .
He heads the Adam Shelton center for autistic children he founded in 1996 in the Paris district of Saint-Denis .
He has been working as a circus clown Buffo since 1975 and has appeared at Bartik and Super Circus, among others. In the 1970s he developed musical clowning, working with symphony orchestras. On stage he also works with the musician Pierre Amoyal . The documentary filmmaker Georg Stefan Troller immortalized Buten in 1988 in his personal description "Three faces of a clown".
Buten has written seven novels and one children's book so far.
