Howard E. Jackson (born June 27, 1951 in Detroit , Michigan , † March 7, 2006 in Duarte , California ) was an American boxer , karate fighter and kickboxer .

Born the oldest of four children, he lost his parents at a young age. The two brothers also died a violent early death; only Sister Corliss and Howard themselves grew up. In 1967 he began to study Kung Fu ( Wushu ), then switched to Tang Soo Do and received the black belt from Hwang Kee in 1970 .

He began the point fight while serving with the United States Marine Corps , where he was nicknamed the California Flash . He trained u. a. with Chuck Norris , Bob Wall , and Pat Johnson . Later on, Joe Lewis made a huge impact on his fighting style.

In 1974 Jackson stopped fighting because of an injury, but returned to the PKA as a contract fighter in 1976 . In 1980 he won the WKA welterweight title and later became the sixth best boxer in his class with the World Boxing Association . In 1983 he retired and worked as a bodyguard and personal trainer for Chuck Norris and as a bodyguard for the band The Temptations ; he also held seminars. He was involved in various films (e.g. Missing in Action 3 with Chuck Norris ) and television shows as an actor, as well as a fighter and stuntman .

Howard Jackson had three children: Howard Jr., a police officer in Los Angeles , Jeremy, hockey players in Canada ( Western Hockey League ) and hip-hop musician, and Amber Nicole, a student.

In February 2002, Jackson was diagnosed with leukemia , from which he died in 2006.
