Howard Leventhal

Howard Leventhal (born December 7, 1931 in Brooklyn ) is an American psychologist . He works in the fields of clinical psychology and health psychology .

Leventhal received his PhD from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 1956 . From 1967 to 1988 the professor at the University of Wisconsin-Madison , then from 1988 to 1993 professor at Rutgers University . In 2005 he received the APA Gold Medal Award for life's work in psychological research.

He is married to the scientist Elaine A. Leventhal - they also work closely together as a journalist - and they have two children.
