Howard Zehr (born July 2, 1944 in Freeport (Illinois) ) is professor of sociology and restorative justice at Eastern Mennonite University in Harrisonburg (Virginia, USA), where he is also co-director of the Center for Justice and Peacebuilding . Prior to that, he was Head of Conflict Resolution and Justice for the Mennonite Central Committee for 19 years . Howard Zehr is considered a co-founder of a new movement in the administration of justice , the Restorative Justice and Restorative Justice as an alternative form of dispute resolution in the context of a victim-compensation propagated. Zehr is referred to as the grandfather of restorative justice on the Eastern Mennonite University website .
