Huang Daozhou
Huang Daozhou (Chinese:黄道周, 1585 - 1646 ) was a Chinese calligrapher , scholar and official of the Ming Dynasty . Huang received the degree of Jinshi in 1622 . He then held various government offices, including Minister of Education. He was known for giving honest advice to the emperors. This made him very unpopular with Emperor Chongzhen . As a result, Huang was demoted and imprisoned. In his later years he volunteered to fight the Manchurian invasion. He was captured and killed by the Manchurian army.
