Huang Kunming

Huang Kunming ( Chinese  黄坤明 , Pinyin Huáng Kūnmíng ; born November 1956 in Shanghang County, Fujian Province ) is a Chinese politician and since October 2017 a member of the 19th Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China and head of the Communist Party's Propaganda Department and the Communist Public Relations Department Party of china .

Career

Huang was born in November 1956 in Shanghang County, Fujian Province. He joined the People's Liberation Army in 1974 and became a member of the Chinese Communist Party in 1976. From 1978 to 1982 he studied at Fujian Normal University . Thirty years later, he received a master's degree in public administration from Qinghua University . He was also awarded a doctorate in management.

After various posts in the CPC in his home province of Fujian, he moved to Zhejiang Province in 1999 to take up political positions . From 2010 to 2013, he was secretary of the Hangzhou Communist Party Committee in Zhejiang Province. Huang was elected as a deputy member of the 18th CPC Central Committee in 2012 and convened in the 19th Politburo of the CPC Central Committee in October 2017. He is one of the confidants of President Xi Jinping and the so-called Zhejiang clique , also known as the New Zhijiang Army ( Chinese  之 江新军 , Pinyin Zhījiāng Xīnjūn ), as the close circle of allies of Xi is called.

Political offices for public relations

The Propaganda Department of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China refers to itself in the English translation as the Publicity Department. From October 2013 to 2015, Huang was the deputy director of the Propaganda Department of the Central Committee of the Chinese Communist Party. He became executive deputy director in January 2015, and finally director of the Propaganda Department of the CPC Central Committee in 2017. In this capacity, he said that the Hong Kong press should not deviate from Beijing's political lines. The CPC Propaganda Department is an important organ overseeing press censorship in the PRC.
