Huang Ming

Huang Ming (Chinese: 黄 鸣; born March 10,  1958 in Taixing , Jiangsu Province ) is a Chinese engineer, entrepreneur, and politician.

life and work

Huang Ming graduated from China University of Petroleum and worked at the Petroleum Research Institute in Dezhou . After the birth of his daughter, he started working on solar energy , but stayed at the institute to fund his projects.

He was a member of the 10th and 11th National People's Congresses of the People's Republic of China. He wrote the law on renewable energies and was able to win other members of parliament for his support. As a politician, he played a central role in the development of renewable energies in China , including through the passage of the Renewable Energy Sources Act in 2005, which came into force in 2006. He also founded the company Himin Solar , which played a central role in the development of the Solar Valley in Dezhou.

According to the 2013 China Rich List of the Hurun Report, Huang Ming had an estimated net worth of US $ 330 million and was ranked among the 1000 richest people in China (945th).

Honors

In 2011 he was honored with the Right Livelihood Award for pioneering work in the field of climate-friendly solar energy.
