Hubert Gantioler

Hubert Gantioler (born April 6, 1963 ) is an Austrian extreme athlete.

Gantioler began his sporting career as a cross-country skier and downhill skier . Since 1995 he has participated in various road and hill climbs and competes in the duathlon and triathlon .

It holds two world records: In February 2004, it climbed 8,335 meters uphill in 12 hours in Grünau im Almtal . In June 2003 he had already climbed 12,100 meters in altitude over a distance of 145 kilometers within 24 hours. He finished second in the Traunsee marathon (70 kilometers over 4,000 meters in altitude) in 2004, as did the Dolomitenmann (in the team). In addition, he was able to win several national races.

In addition to the mountain runs, Gantioler reached the finish line in three Ironman races , once in 12th place. At Powerman Zofingen , the Duathlon World Championships in Zofingen , he was third-best Austrian. In several marathons he took top places.

In 2007 Gantioler ran in the Marathon des Sables - perhaps the most demanding stage marathon in the world - in 12th place. In the same year he was able to come up with excellent results in two Austrian ultra runs. In 12 hours he ran 139.8 km in Vogau (Styria) and 76 km in 6 hours in Grießkirchen (Upper Austria). Gantioler is 4th on the world rankings of ultra runners in 2007.

In November 2008 he ran the Himalayan 100 Mile Stage Race and finished all 5 stages as the winner.
