Hubert Gerhard
Hubert Gerhard (* around 1540/1550 in 's-Hertogenbosch ; † around 1620) was a Dutch-German Renaissance sculptor.
Gerhard was a student of Giovanni da Bologna in Florence. From 1581 he worked in Germany for various territorial princes. His sculptures correspond to the Mannerist - early Baroque canon of beauty. Important works by Gerhard can be found in Augsburg ( Augustusbrunnen ) and Munich (terracotta figures of St. Michael , as well as figure in the courtyard garden ). The Marian column is also often attributed to Gerhard . You can also find Gerhard's terracotta figures in the cedar hall of the Fugger Castle in Kirchheim .
