Hubert Germain

Hubert Germain (born August 6, 1920 in Paris ) is a former French politician who was a member of the National Assembly and was a minister several times.

Life

Hubert Germain, son of General Maxime Germain , was appointed Compagnon de la Liberation for his services to La Liberation , the liberation from German occupation in World War II . In 1953 he became mayor of Saint-Chéron and held this office until 1965.

As Kaninat of the Union pour la Nouvelle République-Union Démocratique du Travail (UNR-UDT) for the Paris department, he became a member of the National Assembly (Assemblée nationale) for the first time on November 25, 1962 and was a member of this until April 2, 1967. On June 30, 1968, he was re-elected a member of the National Assembly for the Union pour la defense de la République (UDR). At the beginning of his parliamentary membership, he became a member of the Committee on Finance, Economics and Planning (Commission des finances, de l'économie générale et du Plan) on July 13, 1968 . He resigned his parliamentary mandate on August 6, 1972, after he had previously been appointed Minister for Post and Telecommunications (Ministre des Postes et télécommunications) in the Messmer I cabinet on July 7, 1972 .

On April 2, 1973, Germain was re-elected a member of the National Assembly for the Union des démocrates pour la République (UDR) in the Paris department, to which he was a member until May 5. Before that, on April 6, 1973, he was again appointed Minister for Post and Telecommunications in the newly formed Messmer II cabinet . In the subsequent Messmer III cabinet , he finally acted between February 28 and May 28, 1974 as minister responsible for relations with parliament (Ministre chargé des relations avec le Parlement) . At the same time, he was acting Minister for Post and Telecommunications (Ministre des postes et télécommunications par intérim) from April 11 to May 28, 1974 , after the previous incumbent Jean Royer had declared his candidacy for the presidential election in May 1974 .
