Hubert Rottleuthner

Hubert Rottleuthner (* 1944 ) is a German legal scholar , legal sociologist and former university professor.

Live and act

Rottleuthner studied law , philosophy and sociology at the University of Frankfurt am Main . There he was in 1972 with the right philosophical work "Judiciary action: A Critique of legal doctrine" Dr. phil. PhD. After completing his legal training, he became a professor at the full chair for legal philosophy and legal sociology at the Free University of Berlin in 1975 . He also became head of the Institute for Legal Sociology and Legal Fact Research. He held this chair until his retirement in 2011.

In Rottleuthner's research, the sociology of law is the focus. He focuses primarily on empirical legal sociology, particularly in the field of judicial research and anti-discrimination law, as well as contemporary legal history , particularly during the time of National Socialism in Germany and the GDR .
