Hubert Steinke

Hubert Steinke (born September 22, 1966 in Niederbipp ) is a Swiss medical historian .

Life

Steinke studied medicine from 1985 to 1991 and art history , history and philosophy from 1991 to 1998 , both at the University of Bern . In 1995 he was promoted to Dr. med. doctorate , in 1998 he obtained a licentiate in art history. From 1999 to 2002 he completed postgraduate studies at the Faculty of Modern History at Oxford University , where he earned his Ph.D. received his doctorate. After working as a research assistant, he worked from 2008 to 2011 as a senior assistant at the Institute for Medical History at the University of Bern. In 2009 he received his habilitation in Bern and in 2011 he was appointed full professor for the history of medicine and director of the Institute for the history of medicine.

Steinke is co-editor of Gesnerus .
