Hubertus Butin

Hubertus Butin (* 1964 in Hann. Münden ) is a German art historian , art theorist and exhibition curator .

life and work

Butin studied art history in Bonn and Zurich, art history, philosophy and modern history. From 1996 to 1998 he worked as an art historical assistant in Gerhard Richter's studio . Since 1992 he has published numerous books on contemporary art, in particular on Gerhard Richter and the art of capitalist realism . In 2014 his extended glossary of terms on contemporary art and his updated catalog raisonné of the editions by Gerhard Richter were published.

Butin lives and works in Berlin.
