Hubertus von Schoenebeck

Hubertus von Schoenebeck (* 1947 ) is a German educator . In addition to Ekkehard von Braunmühl , he is an important representative of anti-education and the children's rights movement .

life and work

Hubertus von Schoenebeck studied law from 1969 to 1972. This was followed by a teaching degree and legal clerkship . In 1975/76 he taught mathematics, biology, physics and technology as a secondary school teacher. From 1976 to 1978 he carried out a study in which he attempted to apply Carl Rogers ' therapy setting to the relationship between adults and children in order to sound out the “possibilities of non-parenting (post-educational) communication with children” ; the University of Osnabrück awarded him his doctorate in 1980.

In 1978 he and Jans-Ekkehard Bonte founded a friendship with children - Förderkreis eV , for which he is responsible for public relations to this day. In the same year, von Schoenebeck and Bonte jointly wrote a book Friendship with Children , which was published in 1980 and contains a comprehensive conception of “post-educational” theory and practice. Amication then takes the place of education : man's friendly relationship with himself, with others and with the world. This concept was expanded in the following years and finally also contained statements on ethical and social issues, dealing with nature, religion and law. Von Schoenebeck recognizes human self-responsibility as a guiding principle : a capacity with which a person is already born and which forms the prerequisite for an amicative way of life. Education suppresses personal responsibility and is therefore evil. Since 1985 he has offered "self-responsibility training" in the form of psychodynamic weekend seminars .

On May 3, 1980, a group of anti-educators announced a German Children's Manifesto on the Prinzipalmarkt in Münster in front of the town hall , a list of the rights of young people from the perspective of the children's rights movement. Von Schoenebeck had written the text closely following John Holt and Richard Farson .

Von Schoenebeck finally moved away from his former companion Ekkehard von Braunmühl . Von Braunmühl gave details of this dissent in his book What is anti-pedagogical enlightenment? Misunderstandings, abuses, failures of radical educational criticism (1997).

Hubertus von Schoenebeck is the father of six children.
