Ekkehard von Braunmühl

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Ekkehard von Braunmühl , eigtl. Wilhelm Ekkehard Hans Joachim Mariano von Braunmühl , (born December 29, 1940 in Gleiwitz ) is a freelance journalist and child rights activist . He is the founder of anti-pedagogy .

On the concept of his anti-pedagogy

Braunmühl advocates the abolition of education. The “training” of the children through upbringing, in order to “shape” them according to the ideas of the adults - which could not succeed anyway - he sets respect for the developing personality and an equal treatment of the child.

Time for children

It is clear to him that not everyone will like his “dishes”, writes Braunmühl to his readers. He turns to people who want to be child-friendly. Child-friendly behavior cannot be taught, you have to learn it yourself. His book is therefore a learning book with “recipes” that cannot simply be copied, but can be tried out in order to draw your own conclusions. Braunmühl would like it to be understood as a “weapon in the anti-educational fight for freedom ”. However, it is irrelevant whether someone uses these words.

It is important to him that people everywhere stand up for child-friendliness. A world becomes child-friendly when it protects the life and freedom of children and stands up for them. It is important to make room for the activity of children. Children want to “try out” and “learn independently” instead of “educated” d. H. actually to be “trained”. In the introduction he names Carl Rogers , Margaret Mead and Lloyd deMause who, like him, describe what happens to children every day.

Braunmühl explains the consequences of upbringing in detail and from different points of view in further chapters. He characterizes his idea of an equal "friendship with children" and reports on the development and changes in child protection , especially the child protection association in Germany.

Anti-educational awareness

His views were adopted by Hubertus von Schoenebeck , but in Braunmühl's view in a very misleading to twisted way. This triggered a heated discussion, which in 1997 in the publication of the book “ What is anti-pedagogical enlightenment? Misunderstandings, Abuses, Failures of Radical Education Criticism ”culminated by Braunmühl.

Anti-educational children's house

In 1970 Braunmühl founded the parents' association 1. APC Kinderhaus eV (1st anti-educational club) in Wiesbaden with his and 25 other families. This is continued as a day-care center in the anti-educational tradition.
