The Kid publisher is a literary publishing house based in Bonn . It was founded in 1990 by Hans Weingartz .

History and program

The founding of the Kid Verlag was preceded by the adoption of the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child by the UN General Assembly on November 20, 1989 . A few weeks later, on January 26, 1990, the Bonn publishing house published the wording of children's rights as a brochure. Two years before the Federal Republic of Germany ratified the convention. According to the Children's Convention, the publishing program consisted of titles on the topic of children and young people: Stories for - also by - children and young people and non-fiction books on the subject of education, upbringing - and children's rights.

After ten years of busy publishing, ten years followed without new titles. The books published up to this point were sold on, but no new ones were added.

At the end of 2011, a new chapter in the publishing history began. The Kid Verlag portfolio has been broader since then. In addition to “classic” kid titles, illustrated books, non-fiction books, regionalia and fiction titles have been published since 2011 , with the focus on fiction.
