Hans Weingartz (born February 7, 1949 in Königswinter ) is a German publisher . In 1990 he founded Kid Verlag in Bonn .

Life

After graduating from high school in 1968, Hans Weingartz studied German, pedagogy and history in Bonn with the aim of becoming a teacher. Influenced by the student movement , he began to publish magazines and books during his studies. In 1974 he completed his studies with the 1st state examination, but was banned from the profession for several years as a result of the radical decree following teacher training and 2nd state examination . After successful legal proceedings against the state of North Rhine-Westphalia, he was accepted into the school service in 1980.

In January 1990, Hans Weingartz founded Kid Verlag. In the founding phase, the publishing program consisted of titles on the subject of children and young people, children's rights , education and upbringing. After a break in his work as a publisher, a new chapter in publishing history began in 2011. Since then, the publishing program has consisted of illustrated books, non-fiction books, regionalia and fiction titles.

Hans Weingartz initiated the 1st Bonn Book Fair in 2016 . From 2015 to 2018 he was a member of the jury for the award of the Bad Godesberg Literature Prize and since 2017 a member of the jury for the award of the Wachtberger Kugel - Prize for comic poetry .
