The Wachtberger Kugel award for comic poetry was a German literary award .

The organizer

Wachtberg-based author Herbert Reichelt initiated the competition in 2016 . The name of the competition refers to the world's largest radome , the symbol of Wachtberg. The competition was organized by the DiWa - Dichtung in Wachtberg eV association. From 2016 to 2019, the competition took place annually. After the death of Herbert Reichelt in 2019, the organizing association declared that it would not continue the competition.

Tender

Authors in German-speaking countries could participate with cheerful, witty and comical poems.

Prices

The winners received hand-made »Wachtberg balls« as trophies - these are pottery by the Adendorf potter Peter Hansen and wooden objects by the Villiper artist Josef Kemp. In addition, the organizer offered 1200 euros to the winners. The first places in the jury and the audience evaluation each received 300 euros, the second placed 200 and the third placed 100 euros each.

The jury

In addition to the initiator of the competition, Herbert Reichelt († 2019), the jury consisted of six other people. Jury members included a. the editor Anja Rüdiger, the former managing director of the Filmstiftung Nordrhein-Westfalen Michael Schmid-Ospach and the publisher Hans Weingartz .

The jury selected the best entries from the competition entries, which were published in an anthology.
