The term cable hoist or winch is more specific for the entirety of cables, pulleys and drives on cranes . The essential components of a cable hoist are:
Independent hoists are: pulley blocks, electric hoists and winches.
A hoist can be operated mechanically, hydraulically or pneumatically. The electric hoist is one of the mechanically operated hoists. The handling is significantly influenced by the choice of electric motor. A pole-changing motor lifts loads at two speeds. A drive with a frequency converter continuously adjusts the speed. This enables loads to be positioned more precisely and more quickly, for example to approach quickly and set down carefully.
