Hudson Island is an island off the Knox coast of the East Antarctic Wilkesland . It is the largest of the Davis Islands in the western section of Vincennes Bay .
Aerial photographs of the US operation Highjump (1946–1947) were used by the US cartographer Gardner Dean Blodgett (* 1925) for an initial mapping. The Antarctic Names Committee of Australia named it in 1960 after Ray Hudson, head of the helicopter team in the 1959-1960 campaign as part of the Australian National Antarctic Research Expeditions , led by the Australian polar explorer Phillip Law , which visited the island on February 19, 1960 was first visited.
