Hueber-Hof

The Hueber-Hof is an urban residential complex in the 10th Viennese district of Favoriten . It is located at Quellenstrasse 24B (the facility is therefore simply called B-Bau by the residents and in the surrounding area). The Hueber-Hof was built between 1930–1931 by the architects Alfred Chalousch and Heinrich Schopper .

Building description

The large residential complex with 475 apartments is located between Quellenstrasse in the south, Steudelgasse in the west, Erlachgasse in the north and Wilczekgasse in the east. The Hueber-Hof forms a block-edge construction around a very spacious courtyard in which there are three more detached houses. The facade on Quellenstrasse is accentuated by three balcony axes and the main entrance to the inner courtyard, which is solidly framed by clinker brick. To the side there are two shops. The corners are characterized by components that are set back and one floor higher. As a result of the difference in level, the side fronts are graduated several times. The rear front on Erlachgasse has a symmetrically arranged height graduation. The external facades, with the exception of the corner components, are structured with a continuous cornice. Curved balconies on the courtyard facades are remarkable.

Anton Hueber Monument (1953) by Mario Petrucci

In the courtyard there is a representative monument with the bust of the union pioneer Anton Hueber by Mario Petrucci from 1953. It was unveiled by Federal President Theodor Körner at the time . A plaque commemorates Hueber in the courtyard entrance.
