Augustin Mengelberg

Augustin Mengelberg (born November 10, 1710 in Linz am Rhein , † September 8, 1763 in Heisterbach ) was a Cistercian monk . From 1748 to 1763 he was abbot of the Heisterbach monastery .

Mengelberg came from a respected family of officials and artists from Linz on the Rhine. He became a priest first , then a lector . In 1748 he was elected abbot by the abbey convent. The baroque entrance building of the abbey was built on behalf of Mengelberg in 1750.
