Hughie McAuley

Hughie McAuley (born January 8, 1953 in Bootle ) is a retired English football player and football coach.

life and career

McAuley is currently the head coach of Liverpool FC's reserve team . The Englishman previously coached the club's U-19 team. Since 1990 he has worked in the club's youth department and in 2005 he became the coach of the second team. As a player, he signed a contract with the Reds, but did not play a single competitive game. McAuley also played for Tranmere Rovers , Plymouth Argyle , Charlton Athletic , Carlisle United and FC Formby . He was the youth coach when Liverpool FC won the English youth championship in 1996. McAuley coached later superstars such as Michael Owen , Steven Gerrard and Jamie Carragher . He is married and his son Hugh McAuley was also a professional footballer.
