Hugo Wolf Quartet

The Hugo Wolf Quartet is an Austrian string quartet ensemble .

history

The quartet was founded in 1993 and got its name from the International Hugo Wolf Society Vienna . It is now playing in all major concert halls and festivals. Works by Zbigniew Bargielski , Friedrich Cerha , Dirk D'Ase , Johannes Maria Staud and Erich Urbanner , for example, were composed especially for the quartet . Among the numerous recordings, one of Beethoven's quartets was particularly well received.

  • Fifth prize at the 1997 London International String Quartet Competition
