Hugo Viera (* 20th century in Lisbon ) is a Portuguese choreographer .

Life

Viera studied dance at the National Ballet School of Portugal and later with Rosella Hightower in Cannes. After studying in Paris with Gilbert Meyer and Jaqueline Fynaert, he was a member of the Portuguese National Ballet. He later worked with the Karlsruhe Ballet and made guest appearances with various companies in Germany, Portugal, England and Austria. He has appeared in choreographies by William Forsythe, Itzik Galili, Vasco Wellenkamp, ​​Jiri Kylian, Rui Horta, Nacho Duato and Olga Roriz.

Hugo Viera created his own choreographies during his time as a dancer. He was a finalist at the International Competition for Choreographers in Hanover and at the Solo-Tanz-Theater Festival Stuttgart , took part in the International Arts Festival Macau in China and created a piece for the Noverre-Gesellschaft Stuttgart.

Hugo Viera then created choreographies for the Karlsruhe Ballet, the Braunschweig Ballet, the Hanover Opera House , Dançarte, the National Ballet School of Portugal, the Tyrolean State Theater Innsbruck , ICZ - Leipzig, the Thuringian Theater & Philharmonic Ballet and the Croatian National Ballet in Zagreb.
