Hulhulé ( Dhivehi ހުޅުލެ[ huɭule ]) is a small island in the Maldives . It is located one kilometer northeast of the capital island of Malé , 800 meters southwest of the artificial island of Hulhumalé and administratively belongs to the capital region of Malé , but is not part of one of the six urban districts.
The island is connected to Hulhumalé by a navigable dam around 1.6 km in length. A bridge construction project is to be started in 2015 to enable a continuous road connection between Malé, Hulhulé and thus also Hulhumalé.
On Hulhulé there is a hotel complex in the west and in particular the international airport of the Maldives, the Malé International Airport . The island has been artificially expanded several times since 1960.
