Dog chocolate

In dogs chocolate is a genuine chocolate -like treats , specifically on dogs is aligned. It contains a reduced cocoa content and has a lower sugar content . Sometimes other additives such as vitamins or the like are added to it. The main ingredients are milk and dairy products , oils and fats , sugar, cocoa and vegetable by-products.

Conventional chocolate contains the purine alkaloid theobromine found in cocoa . This substance can only be broken down very slowly by pets, especially dogs, cats , birds and even horses , and even after consumption of small amounts it can lead to theobromine poisoning, which after initial diarrhea and vomiting with severe neurological symptoms up to Death (see also: section chocolate and pets in the article chocolate ). This substance has been significantly reduced in dog chocolate. As with all treats, however, caution is advised, as sugar is harmful to dogs and feeds containing sugar should therefore only be used in moderation or not at all.
