Hunhoi

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Hunhoi ( Danish Hundhøj , also Hunhoved ) is a location in Niesgrau , Schleswig-Holstein , between Kappeln and Flensburg in the fishing region on the Baltic Sea .

The place name is made up of the names for dog and hill or grave mounds (Dan. Høj ) and thus means about dogs hill or dog height . The second part of the name -hoi has been partially reinterpreted in Danish as hoved (main) and in Low German as Kopp . Accordingly, the place was recorded as Hunnenkopp in 1690. The naming after an animal may have been given a figurative meaning.

A thatched half-timbered house from 1838 is remarkable. There is also an inn and several houses.
