Huskvarnafallet

The Huskvarnafallet is a waterfall of the Huskvarnaån river in Huskvarna , a district of Jönköping in the Swedish province of Jönköping County of the same name . The total drop of 116 meters is spread over eight steps and a distance of around one kilometer. The Huskvarnaån connects the Fredriksdalssjön with the Vättern . South of the river is the “Pustaleden” hiking trail, north of it is the “Ådalsvägen”.

From 1640 the power of the waterfall was used in powder mills for the production of gunpowder, and in 1689 the production of rifles under the supervision of the Swedish crown was added. After privatization in 1757, weapons continued to be manufactured for the army, and civil goods such as hunting rifles and sewing machines were added from the middle of the 19th century. From the 20th century, the power of the waterfall was used to generate energy.
