3 (or three or after the country-specific pronunciation) is a brand name of CK Hutchison Holdings (formerly Hutchison Whampoa ). The brand is available in Australia , Austria , Denmark , Macau , Ireland , Italy , Sweden and England . Hong Kong and Indonesia are 3 of the Hutchison Asia Telecommunications . In Israel, brand 3 was sold to Orange .

Each country is its own company that represents the brand on a country-specific basis and with its own products. In 2017, 3 had over 45.2 million customers. The international corporate headquarters are in Hong Kong .

Italy

In Italy, H3G was founded in 2002 as the smallest mobile operator in Italy. It offered its customers a UMTS and an LTE network. The operator Telecom Italia's network was leased for GSM .

In August 2016, CK Hutchison Holding announced a merger between H3G and the telecommunications company Wind Telecomunicazioni . Wind is part of the Russian Vimpelcom group. The Wind Group announced that the EU Commission has approved the joint venture . On December 31, 2016, the new company Wind Tre became Italy's third-largest mobile operator. Brand 3 was replaced by Wind Tre as part of the merger in early March 2020 .

Austria

In Austria the brand is distributed by Hutchison Drei Austria . The company started on May 5, 2003 as Hutchison 3G Austria GmbH and was the first Austrian telecommunications company to offer the UMTS standard. In the past, an HSDPA and an LTE network were added. Drei Austria last put 5G into operation in 2019.

Australia

Vodafone Australia (VHA) is a company founded in 2009 and owned by CK Hutchison Holdings together with Vodafone in equal shares. In 2010 there were over 4500 employees in the company. In addition to prepaid tariffs and postpaid , it also offers mobile phone contracts associated with smartphones and internet services.
