The Hutturm is a tower of the medieval fortification of the South Hessian Rheingau-Taunus district located Taunus town of Idstein - Walsdorf and one of the landmarks of the village. Its name can be traced back to the concept of herding . It served as a watchtower and was part of the Walsdorf fortifications. It was the southwest corner point of the city wall. The around 24 meter high tower was built between 1358 and 1393 AD. The architectural style corresponds to the Gothic. Today it is a listed building and is administered by the administration of the State Palaces and Gardens of Hesse . In addition, with the remaining city wall, it is a protected cultural asset under the Hague Convention .

The Hutturm is the only remaining tower of the Walsdorf city fortifications, which at the time comprised seven towers. It was also the tallest of these seven towers. The guards were provided by the Nassau counts from Idstein.

The tower is accessible by arrangement and can be climbed as a lookout tower .
