Huye is a mountain in southern Rwanda near the city of Butare . The mountain is connected to the Nyungwe Forest on its west side and lies on the outer foothills of the Great Rift Valley . The Huye is an important source of water for the region. A mineral water of the same name is obtained from the mountain springs and sold in East Africa. The local coffee industry uses the water to clean the coffee beans.
The mountain Huye is also the namesake of the 2002 newly founded Huye District in the southern province .
