Preben Vildalen (born June 6, 1972 in Kristiansand / Norway ) is a Norwegian handball player .

Vildalen, who plays for the Norwegian club Øyestad IF Arendal and previously played for the Norwegian men's national handball team, can be used in many ways in the backcourt .

Preben Vildalen started playing handball at Våg Vipers in his hometown. He later came to Kristiansands IF via Søgne HK, where he made his debut in the Norwegian Premier League. In 1997 he moved to the top club Sandefjord TIF , with which he won the Norwegian championship in 1999. In January 2000, Vildalen received an offer from the German handball league from ThSV Eisenach , which he accepted. With the Thuringians he managed three times to stay in the league, but in 2003 he got into a dispute with his club over a contract extension, whereupon he moved to SV Post Schwerin in the 2nd handball Bundesliga . In the following season he rose to the first division with Schwerin, but in 2005 he was also down again. He then returned to his old club Sandefjord, where he won the Norwegian championship again in 2006. In 2007 he made one last move and joined Øyestad IF Arendal.

Preben Vildalen has played 201 international matches for the Norwegian men's handball team in his career . His greatest success with Norway was 7th place in the men's handball world championship in 2005 . With Norway he took u. a. also participated in the European handball championship in 2006 and the men's handball world championship in 2007 in Germany, but retired both times after the preliminary round and finished in 13th place in the latter. In 2007 he ended his international career.
