Hydra ( Arabic حيدرة Hīdra , DMG Ḥīdra , tamazight ⵃⵉⴷⵔⴰ; until 1962 French Hydra ) is the most expensive district in the center of the Algerian capital Algiers . It is characterized by its expensive restaurants and hotels and includes the Ministry of Mines ( Ministère des Mines ). It forms the 18th arrondissement of the city. From an administrative point of view, Hydra belongs to the Sidi-M'Hamed district in the northern Algerian province of Algiers and has almost 60,000 inhabitants.
