Hyperfunction (medicine)
In medicine, hyperfunction is an increased activity of an organ , i.e. an overfunction , i. H. an expression or a value above the normal value . The opposite is the hypofunction .
Examples for this are:
- Arterial hypertension : increased blood pressure
- in the thyroid : Marine-Lenhart syndrome , hyperthyroidism in humans, hyperthyroidism in domestic cats
- in the adrenal cortex : Cushing's syndrome in humans, equine Cushing's syndrome in horses
