Hyun Sook-hee (born March 3, 1971 ) is a former South Korean judoka . She won an Olympic silver medal in the half light weight.

Career

Hyun Sook-hee took seventh place at the 1993 World Championships . In the same year she won her first title at the Asian Championships. At the Asian Games in 1994 she won the final against Atsuko Takeda from Japan . Two months later, she won a bronze medal at the World Student Championships. As in 1993, Hyun also finished seventh at the 1995 World Championships .

In the summer of 1996 she defeated the Argentine Carolina Mariani through Ippon in the quarter-finals of the Olympic Games in Atlanta . In the semifinals she won over the Cuban Legna Verdecia by punishing the Cuban (chui). In the final, Marie-Claire Restoux from France won a small score (yuko). At the 1997 World Championships in Paris, Hyun lost in her first fight to the North Korean Kye Sun-hui . With four wins in the Hope Round, Hyun secured a bronze medal.
