I'm your savior -

I'm Your Savior is the fourth studio album by Leipzig progressive metal band Toxic Smile . It was released on January 1, 2011.

Emergence

In 2006, after the two albums “MAD” on the BMG Korea label (2001) and “Retrotox Forte” (2004), the DVD “In Classic Extension”, which Toxic Smile recorded together with orchestral musicians, was released. After completing this complex project, the musicians were under pressure to motivate.

In 2009, drummer Antonius Grützner left Saxony because he had to leave Saxony for professional reasons. The last recordings with him were released in 2009 on the EP "Overdue Visit".

To reduce tension, the members of Toxic Smile began to get involved in other projects, including the star combo Meißen and Seven Steps to the Green Door . “I'm Your Savior” is the first studio album after this phase of re-discovery. For the first time Robert Eisfeldt can be heard as a drummer.

Style and reception

The band's claim to record an “adult” album with “I'm Your Savior” has been fulfilled compared to their earlier studio albums. It is consistently described by reviewers as matured and balanced.

The band names progressive metal bands such as Dream Theater and Symphony X as influences for the album , but also Yes , which largely coincides with the opinion of the critics. The central theme of the album is the lyrics that deal with human fate and depression.

In The Abyss, there is a short sequence in which Udo Rupkalwis reads out news in German about a series of suicides.
