HCL Connections , formerly IBM Connections Cloud , is a cloud- based or on-premises software that integrates e-mail, online meetings, instant messaging, file sharing and document processing in one combined solution.
Functionality
The components in HCL Connections are integrated with one another. Information can be linked and evaluated between the components. For example, it is possible to access the creator based on information in blogs or in social bookmarks (DogEar) and to ask this person specific questions via the online community .
All HCL Connections documents with tags provided and can be found by users due to these tags.
Users can RSS - Web feeds set up on their clients and their attitudes are informed of new posts accordingly.

Further development
Since the end of June 2019, the Connections product no longer belongs to IBM , but to HCL . IBM sold the product along with other collaboration products to HCL for US $ 1.8 billion.
Since then, HCL has been the sole owner of the Connections collaboration software . A roadmap for the further development of the product has been announced until 2021 and above. Connections version 7.0 is announced for 2020.
