International Laser Display Association

The International Laser Display Association ( ILDA ) was founded in Lake Tahoe , USA in August 1986 and is a global association in which companies, institutions and natural persons have come together to establish lasers in the fields of art, entertainment and education. The ILDA is now the largest association of the laser show industry and geography, and is generally regarded as laser show world umbrella organization .

The ILDA is led by a five-person executive committee, one of which acts as president . The Presidium and President are elected directly at an annual general meeting. The Executive Director takes care of the day-to-day business of the ILDA and the maintenance of the homepage.

The main activity of the ILDA is carried out by various committees:

The ILDA is financed through membership fees. The annual fee is based on the company's turnover or the status of the member, for example there are special membership fees for students.

Code of Ethics

Members of the ILDA commit to fair competition by agreeing to the ILDA Code of Ethics :

  • ILDA members seek cooperative, responsible and ethical use of lasers to
  • ILDA members undertake to conduct their business in a professional, ethical, safe and decent manner; they do everything in their power to resolve complaints against them.
  • ILDA members respect the wishes and goals of their customers.
  • ILDA members undertake to observe and follow all regulations for the use of lasers in all countries and regions in which the member operates.
  • No member may knowingly claim the authorship for the work of another member for himself, tolerate it or accept it by inaction.
  • ILDA members undertake not to make any false or misleading advertising statements.
  • No member will consciously make incorrect or dishonorable statements about a competitor or grant validity by not disclosing such statements from third parties.
  • Members will not misrepresent their own abilities or those of the medium in general to the outside world.
  • Members undertake to treat any information they receive as part of their position in the ILDA as confidential.

Violations can be borne by the ethics committee of the ILDA, which, after thorough examination and mediation, can impose sanctions up to and including the exclusion of a member.

ILDA Awards

The ILDA Awards are given annually for outstanding technical or creative achievements in the laser show market. This has been awarded since 1988 and is the highest award in the industry.

Categories

Today the following categories apply to the ILDA Awards:

  • The Artistic Award (artistic awards) is the largest basic category with a total of around 10 sub-categories.
  • Beams / Atmospherics: Abstract space / beam shows
  • Graphics shows: representational laser projections or laser animations
  • Abstract Show: Abstract laser projections or laser animations
  • Beams and Screen Show: Combination of projection and spatial effects
  • Nightclub / Disco Show: Shows for clubs and discos
  • Laser Photography: laser photographs
  • Lasers used in video / film: laser shows and effects in film, television and on video
  • Innovative Application: Exceptional laser applications
  • Live Stage Performance: stage performances
  • Multimedia: combination of laser with other media
  • The Technical Award (Fenning Award) , named after the laser show pioneer of the same name, is rarely given and only given for groundbreaking innovations.
  • The Career Achievement Award honors outstanding personalities for their life's work around the subject of lasers and multimedia in show use.

ILDA IDTF

IDTF (image data transfer format) is a file format specified by the ILDA for the cross-manufacturer exchange of graphic data for laser projectors.
