The IPD 5801 was a development by the Brazilian Instituto de Pesquisas e Desenvolvimento (IPD) .

History and construction

In 1958, Neiva asked the Instituto de Pesquisas e Desenvolvimento for assistance in the development of a new two-seater glider, which was intended to be the successor to the Neiva B Monitor for the Brazilian aero clubs. In the absence of sufficient funds, the engineers Hiroshi Kameyama , José Carlos Reis and Douglas José Arcuri designed an economically feasible model, a revised B monitor . Like the original model, the machine was designed as a shoulder-wing aircraft with braced wings, a conventional tail unit and a two-seat tandem cockpit. The hull was made of fabric-covered welded steel tubes. Only a prototype was built.
