ISO 19136

ISO 19136 is a standard from the family of ISO standards for geographic information (ISO 191xx). It was created by merging the specifications of the Open Geospatial Consortium on Geography Markup Language (GML) with the ISO-191xx standards. It has also been available as German DIN EN ISO 19136 since September 2009 .

While earlier versions of GML were not ISO-compliant (GML 1, GML 2), GML version 3.2.1 brings about complete ISO conformity. This means in particular that GML is now also an implementation of ISO 19107 .

The coding process itself (how do I proceed to display structured geographic information in an XML file?) Corresponds to the ISO 19118 standard - encoding. In addition, the following other ISO standards are also taken into account:

  • ISO 19103 - Conceptual Schema Language (units of measure, basic types),
  • ISO 19108 - Temporal schema (temporal geometry and topology objects, temporal reference systems),
  • ISO 19109 - Rules for application schemas (features),
  • ISO 19111 - Spatial referencing by coordinates (coordinate reference systems),
  • ISO 19123 - Coverages.
