history

Since the 1960s, the VEB booking machine works Karl-Marx-Stadt developed mainframe computers and operating systems and gained experience with IBM software and hardware. These qualities were ultimately decisive for entering into a joint venture between IBM Deutschland GmbH and Robotron Ascota AG, which emerged after 1990 as the successor to the booking machine factory.

On March 15, 1990, IBM Deutschland GmbH and VEB Robotron Booking Machine Plant Karl-Marx-Stadt announced their intention to cooperate, and on October 10, 1990, the Ascota “Computer System Services” division became csd Computer-Systemdienste GmbH with 220 employees and headquarters in Chemnitz. Robotron Ascota GmbH initially remained the majority shareholder. In January 1993, IBM Deutschland GmbH took over all the shares in csd.

As a result of the merger of the IBM subsidiaries CSP Computer Service Partner GmbH, DS Data Sciences GmbH, WBI Weiterbildungsgesellschaft für Informationstechnik mbH and csd Computer-Systemdienste GmbH, csg Computer Service GmbH was created on January 1, 1996, in which the previous csd as an independent software project division ( csg / SwP) was continued.

On August 1, 2000, the software projects division was separated from csg and merged with the IBM subsidiary CGI Informatik Deutschland GmbH to form IT Services and Solutions GmbH based in Chemnitz.

In January 2008, IBM announced the introduction of a new corporate organization in July 2008. In the course of this reorganization, the company was expanded within the core area of Solutions & Services, and the name was changed on July 1, 2008 to IBM Germany Infrastructure Technology Services GmbH (IBM ITS GmbH). The employees were in the company

  • IBM Germany Infrastructure Technology Services GmbH (IBM ITS GmbH),
  • IBM Germany Enterprise Application Solutions GmbH (IBM EAS GmbH),
  • IBM Germany Enterprise Business Solutions GmbH (IBM EBS GmbH),
  • IBM Germany Management & Business Support GmbH (IBM MBS GmbH) and
  • IBM Germany GmbH (IBM D GmbH)

divided up.

On April 1, 2015, IBM ITS GmbH was merged with IBM B&TS GmbH.
