Ian Barnes

Ian Barnes (* in Coventry ) is a British director . His short film Wish 143 was nominated for an Oscar in 2011 .

Life

Ian Barnes attended the private school Bablake School in Coventry. He made his directorial debut with an episode of the documentary series Future Fantastic . He then mainly shot episodes for various television series, including Grease Monkeys , Wildes Herz Afrika or Skins - Hautnah . From 2005 to 2012 he worked on the documentary series I Shouldn't Be Alive for Channel 4 , which is about people in extreme situations and in which allegedly authentic cases are re-enacted. In addition to directing, he also worked as a producer and screenwriter for all 35 episodes.

He also made two short films. Swing was released in 2002. He was nominated for an Oscar for the short film Wish 143 , which is set in front of a teenager with cancer . His film won the Palm Springs International ShortFest Audience Award and the Rushes Soho Shorts Festival Long Form Award .
