Ian McNuff

Ian McNuff (born March 10, 1957 in London ) is a former British rower who won an Olympic bronze medal and was third in the world championship twice.

Career

Ian McNuff won the silver medal in the four without helmsman at the Junior World Championships in 1975 . At the 1977 World Championships , he finished tenth along with Derek Bond , John Beattie and Martin Cross . In the following year, with David Townsend for Derek Bond, the British won the bronze medal at the 1978 World Championships , the Soviet four-man without a helmsman in front of the boat from the GDR won. In the same line-up, the British took third place at the 1979 World Championships , this time behind the boats from the GDR and the CSSR. The four Brits won their third bronze medal in a row at the 1980 Olympic Games in Moscow behind the boats from the GDR and the Soviet Union. After a tenth place in the four without a helmsman at the World Championships in 1981 , McNuff took sixth place in the four with a helmsman in 1983 .

His wife Susan also took part in the 1980 Olympic Games as a rower .
