The Ian Peak is a mountain peak in the Bowers Mountains in the East Antarctic Victoria Land . It rises about 5 km northwest of Mount Stirling above the origin of the Leap Year Glacier and the Champness Glacier .
Participants in a campaign carried out from 1967 to 1968 as part of the New Zealand Geological Survey Antarctic Expedition named him after the geologist Ian Smith, who took part in this research trip on behalf of Victoria University .
